“So theres not much to do”

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening; whatever the case may be, im back for my first blog of 0 10, 2010 or twentyten. So just a short blog this time (not because i cant be bothered, i couldnt make it long if i tried ^_^), well anyway, so theres not much happening on my side for the upcoming ‘YOUTH party’ mainly because its an eighteen plus party so theres not much to do and dnt know many older than me people. The ‘elders’ of the commitee are still getting more people to come, but yes for the under age commitee members its pretty much watching grass grow. Our last meeting was supposed to be a short 1 hour meeting, pft yea right, it carried on for at atleast another hour. But we did conclude in the last week that the yuwak mandal was to help fund the auckland khatri team in the upcoming gujurati soccer tournament in hamilton; man our auckland team better win! hehe. Sooo, that’s it for me for another few weeks. {^<>^} tweet! quack!

“Won’t be …like Dave’s Party”

So.. my first blog of 0-10…and it has been a long time. Firstly there is nowhere near as much happening this year as there was last year since these few months are the ending period of our first term. Especially since one third of our committee are freshman at college this year and probably be encountering an increase work load compared to their high school days and have less time to do the NZKYSI charity work. We had a meeting last weekend and set out our plans for the remainder of the term which are very modest at best. Most committee members are proposing that the Lights Out YOUTH PARTY be our final event for this term. This is going to be an Youth but R18 event at Chicane bar…I haven’t been there and most ppl who know me will know it’s not my type of place so don’t ask me too much about the event but vini tells me it’s pretty tight so if you have any questions ask vini.jones@gmail.com …what I do know is that there will be subsidised booze ..Like pretty cheap booze or so they say in the meeting to convince me this event is a good idea. hmm now maybe i’m offering too much opinion ,I hope those comments didn’t just breach the unwritten constitution of the blog… There will be some pretty kool finger food and I assure you it won’t be the usual Indian samosa’s and gulab jamoon stuff like Dave’s party.

In the community news front this week, the singles lost by 7 runs to the married in the first of a 3 match married verses single cricket series which was held last Sunday.

Ok enough blabber from me,
Till next time,
Rayneil Narsey

P.S. flight of the concord’s season 1 episode 1 for those of you slow ppl thinking: “who is this Dave and which party of his was this” i think know him.

Now …the official first blog

Well now this is the official first blog of 2010, cool ay?
Yesterday we had our very first meeting after like 6 weeks and it was also the first meeting of 2010, it was quite a short meeting and not too productive.
But with great hospitality as usual in all of our meetings.
As you heard in our last blog there was word of a possible tekken night/ come hang out…
This night couldn’t happen due to lack of hall availability in January but don’t worry, we have another much better, in my opinion, get together being planned than the tekken night.
If this get together goes ahead which I really hope it does, it will happen in the next couple of months and is definitely one to look forward to.
Other than that there’s not much else to say though like 5 of the committee members are still on holiday and for 4 of us its our first year of uni… We’re growing up. Hopefully this means more maturity of the committee but if not then well that’s ok.

Yeahhh that sums everything up.

Thanks for reading,
Shanesh Ranchhod.

“in the good ol’ days”

Alright! Another week and another post on the good ol’ blog. This week has gone by pretty fast it always does when you’re having fun and what else is there to do but to have fun when you’re on holiday. As usual in the holidays I have kept communications with and endeavours to the world outside by man-cave (or bedroom as used to call it in the good ol’ days) to a minimum. Yet another reason why this is my third blog post in a row…I can’t be bothered calling/texting someone else to do it.

I did make one important endeavour outside my man-cave and outside my local town as well ^_^. I journeyed to the heartlands, to south of Auckland (Papakura). At which point I met up with our secretary of the treasury and head of Christmas party decorations Nikesh Lal, who was late as usual and so from there we set of on our quest to gather props and other shiny looking things to put up as deco on the night of the Christmas party. We travelled not so far or wide to accumulate these items, purchased mainly from ye olde two dollar shop and nearby merchants. We purchased everything from coloured paper to Christmassy undergarments, the undergarments were Nikesh’s idea and chosen by him. In a very feminine fashion, once again mainly Nikesh’s fault, we somehow managed spend half a day gathering what was only about 30 pieces of decorations so we decided to call it a day and went to ye olde Mc Donald’s to get some lunch at what was more a time for afternoon tea than lunch.

I spent the remainder of the week inside my man-cave labouring with guillotine and scissors sleighing pieces of paper (how’s that…a Christmas pun inside a medieval metaphor…genius!). In other words I spend the rest of the week cutting out the Christmas party Tickets…who knew cutting tickets would be such a laborious and time consuming task …well at least that means you will be getting your tickets soon. For those of you reading who haven’t got your tickets for the Christmas party yet do not fear thou can still get them by calling Shayneil Narsey at 021 2 7429 10 or any other NZKYSI committee member.

Well I better get back to ye olde book thy was reading before thy started inscribing this blog post…oh I love the holidays…soo many kool books to read so little time.

And I’ll leave with a quote from the book I’m about to get back to:

NEXT EVENT:

“Just like Buzz Lightyear”

Posted on : 19-11-2009 | By : Rayneil Narsey | In : Uncategorized

I heard today (and not for the first time let me add before you think I’m an ignorant person, who learns of the news 6 months after it happens) that NZ plans to join the space race by the end of the year the announcements came a year ago but a lot of progress has been made and they should be going soon also kinda new news and I have to include this because it’s a YOUTH society blog Buzz Lightyear and YES L-i-g-h-t-y-e-a-r not Aldrin a few weeks ago got back to earth after spending more than a year in space (they took the action figure with them to the space station just a year ago).

Just like Buzz Lightyear who is to many of us a childhood hero, NZKYSI is also making such progress…. maybe not going to space and back but moving forward. This weekend we had another meeting with more cakes, soft drinks, discussion, debates and progress. News in the top of the agenda this week was after weeks we have got our accounts audited and are about to file them this week. Yippee I thought this would never happen…every single meeting to date there had been the discussion accounts are going to be prepared soon …prepared soon and never prepared but finally the fat lady has sung and they are done.

On the Christmas party side we have confirmed our menu and desserts….and boy! do they sound good…Vini “Blew the budget” on this one to quote our Secretary of the Treasury Nikesh Lal. In addition to dessert I have made sure we all have French vanilla ice cream with our deserts as well, because come on isn’t vanilla ice cream just a failed attempt at making French vanilla.
Apart from that not much happened this week this is especially so because of exams, me and Nikesh finished our exams this week (although Nikesh is now caught up in the $2 shop catering to the Christmas rush) and the other boys who do NCEA are about to start their exams and Jav is busy with the Christmas rush at his work.

Well till next time,

“Smooth talking”

Posted on : 11-11-2009 | By : Rayneil Narsey | In : Uncategorized

A wise man once said or more specifically Lao Tzu once said “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step”. I think the journey of preparing for the NZKYSI Christmas party will be a thousand miles long but we have taken more than one step already. So far I think we have walked around about 285 miles or 460 Km’s for all you metric system fans out there. Why 285 miles you ask and not 300? because if I said 300 then it would be to obvious that I made the number up but more seriously 285 because 50% of the work actually happens on the night and the other 50% of work that needs to happen before the night is about half done. These few weeks were going on ticket sales and confirming the food menu at the moment because that’s the only thing that really needs to be done this far out…deco and stocking up of the alcohol etc etc will be all last minute stuff that will probably go down a week or few days before the event.

The only other thing we are really working on right now is the physical and administrative preparation of the cricket team. this week official positions were given with Team Captain going to: Chetan Solanki, Vice-Captain: Shayneil Narsey, Coach: Vinesh Kumar (aka V.P.), Team Manager: Raju Kapadia , Tour Manager: Bhavin Kumar, Team Doctor: Dr Prashant Kalyan and Team Attorney: Nick Malarao. While I wouldn’t be able to stand the tortures activity of sitting in the sun watching people play cricket or playing, shay tells me trainings are going well and the team is moulding really well. The admin side has been coming along well, NZKYSI are running a raffle to fundraise for the cricket trip to ozzy (hmm maybe that’s not how you spell the country…meh) to quote Rishi’s blog post from a few weeks back “we have a lot of smooth talkers in our committee. So if you ever need anything to be sold you know who to call” and smooth talking is exactly what we’ve been doing, Tickets have been selling like hotcakes the printing press can’t event keep up, I wouldn’t go into any more detail in case I breach the unwritten or imaginary (depending on who you ask) “constitution of the blog”. Make sure you don’t miss out on a ticket …if you need one just call Shay on 021-2-SHAY-10 or Nikesh on 0211488223 and they will smooth talk you a ticket.

Anyway I better get back to my work.

Same spot, same chair same room

Posted on : 06-11-2009 | By : Rayneil Narsey | In : Uncategorized

Well I’m here again in this same spot, on this same chair, in this same room writing yet another blog post for our brilliant involuntary committee. Well not too much happening from my ‘outside the box’ perspective but from those who have a sort of view that seems to catch everything, notice the background work has been intense with many confirmed or pending guests as I’m sure you all know about our latest event, The Christmas party which this organisation is going toward. And all seems to be going well with this long strenuous process which, I must say is being very well compressed into the allocated time frame. ). Christmas party seems to be the only thing driving the committee’s will at the moment with budgets and what not (again probing ‘the imaginary constitution of the blog’) although many other things still are pondered at the back of their sophisticated intellect. For example the ‘Auckland Assassins’ sponsorship for gear, to get them all the way to Melbourne to for their chance to shine……..and represent our community and the hidden talents. All of the loose ends will hopefully and most undoubtedly be tied up at the next meeting (quotes for various parts of this event and decoration and other stuff necessary) giving us a straight shot to think clearly about the next event to entice the community in a social gathering, this is to be suspected as an ice rink (well actually it’s confirmed) and pending to be booked although actually I think it might all ready be booked but I can’t remember as age is catching up to me. The ice rink, well that’s definitely going to be something new to some of our community and great fun. We decided that we best get a private booking and that’s what has been done so all these professionals don’t laugh at us when we fall down, and let’s be honest we’re all probably going to fall over.

Anyway, something I found very controversial was the fact that we are tracking down an auditor who seems to be on the run, somewhere in India (duh duh duh………duh).

Well that’s it from me.

“Well what to say, what to say…”

Aight, well hello hello our fellow and very loyal readers of the NZKYSI blog. So like, for once we didn’t have a meeting on a weekend, instead we had one on Friday, just to let you all know…. In case you are wondering, well it was committee member Pavan’s birthday on Friday, so Happy Birthday Pavan. And today is Vice President Vinesh Kumar’s birthday, so Happy Birthday to you too Vinesh. Well what to say what to say…… So let me update y’all on what’s been happening over the past week since you were last updated, long time eh?
Well I feel rather important as I have been allocated the job of booking a bin for our upcoming Christmas party, well at least I think I have. And other than that other members are trying to carry out their allocated tasks which they were handed, it being Lights, Food, Dessert, Decoration and anything of that like.
Well like this Christmas party has been mentioned in like the last 7 or so blog posts, this is to build up hype and we all are just so excited about it I guess XD.
In other happenings, a few months earlier we received from the Melbourne Kshatriya Society an invitation to the world T20 cricket tournment, which will be held in Melbourne late Jan. We have decide to accept the invite and are sending the finest sportsmen in Auckland to collect the shiny silverware hehe. Is that exciting or what?
There has also been mention of a Khatri picnic day or something of that sort, taking place sometime over summer so that’s another day to keep free and yes more info will be brought to you soon enough.

Well that’s it for this week our loyal fans of our famous blog.

Exams are coming up for High School and University students so good luck to all.

Peace Blood.

“All the little details”

Well I’ve just returned from a trip to all my kaka’s and mama’s houses, and now it’s time ….for another blog post. Well people there goes another year and my voice after saying saal-mu-barak and happy New Year or something of the sort 100 times over. Actually my voice is fine i’m just kidding. Now time to share this week’s news and view, firstly I would like to express the limitations. you may not notice but the amount of work going on cannot really get captured into a blog or a newsletter or any conversation for that matter especially because no one (including me) can be bothered asking everyone what they did the previous week or will or in the next. this blog is just a small effort to put down the ‘highlights’ so to speak. Well the biggest new accomplishment that has occurred this week would be the NZKYSI booking of an ice rink. This will be on Saturday 20th of February 2010 and will be a Khatri only ice event, the event is currently planned to run from 5.30pm – 7.30pm I know you’ve probably previously heard a lot of rumours (or just blog posts) about this event but now it is official. My view is that we should have a game or two of broomball, [If you don't know what this is youtube it, I’ve never played it but it looks fun (and easy) ^_^]. Have some time/space for khatri’s to learn or exercise their ice skating talent (…If Khatri ice skating talent isn’t a contradiction in terms already) without any of the pro’s skating around and laughing at us when we fall or slip (because let’s admit it most of us will). Keep in mind this will be on February next year so don’t get too excited just right now. Speaking of things that are more relevant the Christmas party planning/organising is going along as expected. I guess it is not really necessary for me to talk about all the little details like what’s for chaser and who’s in charge of organising drinks but I’m sure if you put heaps of comments saying so in the feedback section someone will write all that up in a post next week or so. Surprisingly we still don’t have any calls for confirmed guest for this Christmas party, maybe because it’s just not kool to read the snail mail newsletter we send out like …seriously printed mail out newsletters are like sooooo last decade. Regardless of this we will be printing tickets this week …we’ll be flooded with calls any second now…it’s just a matter of time…in case you don’t know, to get your tickets text or call Shreni (021 0462151) or Shay (021-2-SHAY10)[yep not joking thats his number try it.] or Vini Jones 021-053-6638. Hmm this is getting rather long so I will end it with a quote I found this week “without your dopeness, your hopeless” Reverend Run / Joseph Simmons

Till next time good night,

“I’m here live”

Sup people, it’s Pavan here for the 15th Yawak Mandal blog. 5:27 – I’m here live at the Lynnfield rec for the Mamna night and we’ve done pretty much everything from setting up tables and chairs to putting up the raffle prize table. It’s going quite well so far, the older folks are cooking the mamnas while small groups of people are arriving every so often. A few guys tried one or two of them while Ray decided to grab a couple of raw mamnas “before they’re all cooked” because he supposedly thinks they taste better, but I’m not one to question him on that because I’ve never tried it.

On other news we had some technical difficulties on the mic from shays famous iphone (some mic app), (not blaming the iphone), it was Rays wiring skills which I fixed by simply clicking a single wire together but that’s all good and sorted so I’ll catch you later when there’s more happening.

Hey, I’m back and it is about 8:17. The night has gone according to plan so far, and i have just finished my first shift cleaning the hota (skewers) – man what a hassle, that stuff was disguuuuuuusting ^_^. After all the work me and several other youngsters, we had barely done half! So brb, i’ll “refresh” what’s happening when i can.

Phew! Man it’s heating up, finally it’s 10:09 and I’ve got some time off to myself. All went well and we’ve just finished the main presentation for the day, I’m so buggered. I just noticed how packed it is, yes we did sell out and I think also oversold haha. Anyway the nights pretty cruisy right now, well inside at least, i bet it’s the opposite behind the scenes.

Well i guess the conclusion is next so:Yea i think it was a big success, I think you guys should come to the upcoming Christmas party, which we are all expecting big things from (hint-especially the Christmas tree) won’t say much more about that, but I’m sure every one of our events will be an improvement of the previous.

btw (by the way) This was brought to you by my IPod touch. hehe.

So thanks, and CYA.

‘Disappointing service from the biggest critic’

Posted on : 08-10-2009 | By : Rayneil Narsey | In : Uncategorized

Greetings and Salutations to all the Kshatriya community from a youthful spirit of the Yuwak Mandal. For those who have been wondering about the Yuwak Mandal and whether we still exist, well we do and we just had another meeting [which was, in my opinion, too long] with quite disappointing service(mostly food) from the biggest critic, V.P Vinesh Kumar . Most of our meeting session was devoted to preparing for the two rather big events (Mamna night & Christmas Night) that will occur in a relatively quick succession compared to the usual time between most major events. Mamna night is theoretically ready but not yet literally ready as obviously we cannot go setup the hall days or weeks before. The main issue not solved was probably the music playlist with no one to keen in using their portable devices. So with that almost out of the way most of the attention was turned to the upcoming Christmas party, and to be honest most of the research wasn’t the best especially from a few categories that I shall not name to save them from publicised mockery (one of them might have been me, although I hope not). We’re preparing a heap of cool things to make it one of the best Christmas parties ever, using everything from deluxe Santa suits and little elf helpers to 8 foot Christmas trees’(and so much more). Vinesh has allegedly finished the Christmas party tickets, when we aksed him on his progress he replied “ I’ve done it but I just have to add the information.” Which begs the question what else do you put on it?!?

In other news the ‘Auckland Assasins’ (Cricket team going to Melbourne for Kshatriya world cup) have approached us for funding for the cricket gear going to be used and we will look into this appeal. Although this has been made much more difficult by the fact that the two main members from the Auckland Assasins just happen to bbe the two most influential people in the Yuwak Mandal. Wll i’m going to stop brooding on this topic as it is probably breaking the ‘imaginary constitution of the blog’ that has been put into order.(Oh no I might be a criminal…). Well that’s about it from me, time to transform and roll out.

Until next time my fellow citizens,
Cheerio,

“I’m getting a bit carried away with this”

Posted on : 01-10-2009 | By : Rayneil Narsey | In : NZKYSI Committee Blog

Hello everyone reading. I’ve been on a bit of a blog break lately, so I thought I might as well write this weeks’ one. Are you as excited as I am? Well on the plus side most of our committee is on a well deserved holiday from meetings, for two weeks . In this time most of the committee will be busy organizing the essentials for our Christmas party. No Chirstmas party is complete with out a huge Christmas dinner. Now that’s gotta leave a jolly feeling in your stomach. After a nice Christmas meal I think we will all have a belly as big as Santa himself ho ho ho. For this party we want to have a christmas party like they do in the movies. How cool is that! Now that’s what I call a Christmas party from Hollywood. By that I mean without the corny cliches and fake jolliness. This had me thinking should i go get a lame old Santa hat. Or should i roll up with pointy elf shoes and big ears with a green hat. Hmmm what to wear what to wear. Who said only girls take ages deciding on what to wear… or even better dress as a rein dear. Or maybe we should ask Lady Gaga what to wear she always has very interesting ideas. I wish we could find a way for it to snow inside to make it truly magical. Sadly we don’t have that kind of money if only money grew on trees. Oh for those of you who think im getting a bit carried away with this. Well I am BOYAH! Well enough on the Christmas party it’s ages away. We don’t want to be like the warehouse with their Christmas Specials already!

In other huge news!!!!! This is like the mother of all news after several months the important task of becoming the signatory has been done by Ray. God bless you son I got sick of that topic in our meetings.

In other news we sold our 50 mamna night tickets with ease, we have a lot of smooth talkers in our committee. So if you ever need anything to be sold you know who to call *wink wink*.

Well thats it from me
Cheers!

Yours most lovingly truthfully,

“The latest addition to the proud tradition”

A great big West Auckland Booyah to all. It has been a relatively eventful week even with no committee meeting, this is due to the amount of events being organised. This week we’re continuing to work on our next two major events [the Mamna Night and the Christmas party]. On Tuesday night, Shayneil attended the NZTA meeting about the Mamna Night, a lot of progress has been made and it is amazing to see the amount of members the community getting behind the Taekwondo team and NZKYSI, we continue to get a lot of eager sponsors and donors for the event. The big project for me this week was NZKYSI newsletter #2, which should reach you sometime this week or the next. Although I have had some contributors helping me and therefore, I would like to give a shout out to Committee Member Rishi and NZTA secretary Prashant. To add to that, this newsletter features a ‘get to know the committee’ section with an [in my opinion inadequately answered] interview with Shayneil (President) and Vinesh (Vice-president) conducted by yours truly. Tonight at long last I have finished assembling the newsletter and will send it over to get printed once I’m done writing this. Others like our VP Vini Jones (Vinesh Kumar) also have been doing a lot more than just taking an interview. This week he’s been churning out our latest graphics including the Mamna Night Flyer and Christmas Party flyer seen below.

In other news…due to Nikesh missing the train last week I’m still not a signatory of the NZKYSI bank accounts… so, fingers crossed Nikesh makes it to the train station on time this Tuesday and I will be the latest addition to the proud tradition of NZKYSI bank account signatories…except for the proud tradition bit. hmmm aaannnyway I got a long day ahead of me at uni tomorrow and it’s getting late so I better go catch some zzzzzzzzzz

Holla, greetings from Blockhouse Bay, a sunny Sunday afternoon, turned into a Sunday evening and a rather long and tiring meeting in which it was decided this weeks blog is on me. This evening we discussed quite a few issues and upcoming events, mainly the NZTA/NZKYSI Mamna night, which will be held on the of 10th October at the Lynfield rec centre. Amongst other things NZKYSI is organising the raffle on the night. We have already confirmed many prizes, which sound pretty amazing, cant let that secret out just yet… just have to wait and see when you turn up on the night. One of our members has been rather slack to become a signatory of our bank accounts, we decided that Sec-gen Ray Narsey is to take the position of becoming signatory and I hope this will finally happen. Hopefully this subject will not come up in our next meeting, it is becoming a familiar and reoccurring topic with useless discussion and no action …it has come up in every meeting ….from our second meeting till now. As previously stated there was some word about a ten-pin bowling event coming up. Today we decided this is no longer happening and has got the AXE much because some in the committee believe there is a lack of demand and others believe we have too much going on with the Mamna Night and the Christmas Party. Ice-skating (which I am looking forward to) though, is going ahead, this i think will be an enjoyable event for y’all. The mamna night is going to be the first party that we are doing as a committee, but our main event comes sometime in December which is the Xmas party…. That’s not too long after one party there’s another party… For all us party people YEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAA!!.

Word has been dropped that there may be an event dubbed “Khatris’ Got Talent”…..but this is still just an idea… Keep it in mind and if your interested in taking part or have some extraordinary skills/talent holla at one of us, so we can guage the amount of talent we will be able to showcase.

And thats all this week from me,

Cheers,
Shanesh Ranchhod.

“The slight lull in activity is about to be cut short”

After a tiring weekend of skiing what better to do than write this week’s Yuwak Mandal blog, I’ve heard that the blog’s beginning to invite a lot of traffic through the website so I’m a bit nervous. Well this week has been a slightly more relaxed week but behind the scenes there’s still a lot of buzz.  The Youth Society has decided to co-host the mamna night with the NZTA(New Zealand Tae Kwon Do Association) , V.P Vinesh Kumar got cracking on the tickets and made them pretty fast with no literacy errors… more detail on this event later. Some confusion has been shifting through the ranks as the next Yuwak Mandal event is continually being changed through the different suggestions and interests that would best suit the community(e.g Ice skating, laser force etc.) but I think has settled on tenpin bowling. As a younger member I’m really not that clear on the financial side of things (but I know enough to get by), anyway the veterans of the society have got the financial statements audited and they are ready to be filed with the government. The slight lull in activity is about to be cut short by a meeting at my place (first time as a host) where we’ll all leave with new responsibilities to keep us busy throughout the few weeks separating the meetings. Well that’s what’s happening this week and the blog will be updated next week.

Until then See you later fellow Kshratriya community members.

See you later alligator,
Bhavish Kapadia.

“Goal for the committee.”

Holla, Holla, This is committee member Shanesh writing up this weeks blog for the famous Nzkysi committee blog. There was no meeting this week, ohhh but we did have a world first …. A NZKISI Skype meeting with most members present. This meeting took sometime to get under way but once we did get under way the meeting went well for a first, though I got told to mute due to “background” noise, but that’s ok and it was quite enjoyable at some points (by that I mean the call not the background noises ^_^) some members got slightly unstable and one moment Pavan blew into the mic really loud to test…which was un-comforting ….either that or it was a really loud fart, whatever it was don’t do it again. The Skype meeting is good since we didn’t need to travel to peoples houses to attend meetings, but it is hard to get all members on-line at the same time, and certain members E.g. Vinesh using Skype on his phone and Shayneil using it oh his iPhone but kept getting disconnected due to crappy wi-fi. all post movie night organising is now officially over with alll the money NZKISI movie night collected and banked, the bills got paid this week,…so no more debts!. Which is good because it is one less thing to worry about. And this money will be going a long way for future events that we have in mind. Our Halloween night as you heard last week has been cancelled… but we have a party coming soon, its going to be a Christmas party and for that we have been given the all clear from the God’s and the pundit so meat is definitely going to be on the menu. This is probably going to happen some time from mid-November to mid -December. An ice skating event is also in the process of discussion at the moment and this is likely to happen early 2010 as we need advance booking, about 6 months. This is an event that will take place in the medium term and a long term goal for the committee.

So be sure to keep look out and we will keep all you readers posted on what’s happening!

That’s my thoughts this week.
Cheers,
Shanesh Ranchhod.

” I Thought I was Playin a Video Game”

V.P checkin in on the day after the movie night for my first blog post by  “popular demand”…last I heard only 5 people have read the past blogs. So I hope many people don’t read this. Firstly I would just like to say; G.I J.O.E (Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity) was a fail…to be honest. When I got home my dad said and I’m going to quote him now “I thought I was playin a video game”, but the movie night was a success no doubt. It had a great turnout overall, went smoothly and got the community together. A few people I heard even requested a bollywood movie night; which we may consider some time in the future. Right now I just got back from our meeting that decides to never end and one of the outcomes of that was unfortunately now due to the amount of geeks in uni, we have decided to scrap the Halloween party since its right in the middle of exams, but don’t fear.. we are trying to organize a private Khatri only ice event (ice skating / broomball / slipin and slidin on ice) in which we are looking to hire out the whole rink and us Khatri’s can go absolutely nutz, and this will be held *hopefully* sometime in the September school break but you’ll hear much more about that latter, oh and I better mention sadly there is no more poker / board game night in the near future but still is a possibility for the distant future; and instead we are working on a Christmas party with Mr. Santa and his willing helpers.

To all My Fellow J.O.E’s, Catch you all up,
Over And Out,

Vinesh Kumar (A.K.A Vini Jones)

Hola, I’m on my way home at the moment on an uncomfortably full train and what better thing do I have to do than write this weeks blog on my Palm Z22 P.D.A which should belong in a museum by now. Well, I spent this week scrambling around handing out tickets. I know my brother also travelled to the woop woop’s and back to give tickets. I met people before and between lectures even at around 7.45am in the morning because believe or not, that was the most convenient time for me. While all have been enthusiastic about delivering tickets, not everyone has been treating it the same. Some of the members are treating it like a school assignment  and are leaving it to the last minute because let’s admit it-  that’s when your most productive. We also have added to the prizes a double pass to the warriors (yay! o.O) and got the cd’s this week, which we’ll be giving away and they are good. Well, I like one of them even though I got a so called “weird” taste of music. For those concerned, the pre-ordered/discounted popcorn and drinks have been ordered so they can have them ready for us when we get there. On another note, we’ve been getting some pretty good comments for our blog posts and so please keep them coming or else it feels like we are talking to a brick wall. To make it easier I’ve added a feedback panel on www.kshatriya.co.nz website where you can rate our blog and send us comments.  To be honest, apart from that not much is happening, we have a meeting next week Sunday to assess how the movie night went so if there isn’t anything else, I’ll see you all on Saturday at GI JOE and as a little heads up , because there are minimal spare seats, please turn up early if you want to get a good seat…say around 8.15 pm because doors open 8.25.

See you around,

Rayneil Narsey

Sadly this week there was no meeting with fabulous food. But there has been a lot of behind the scenes work which I would like to share with everyone. At last the tickets have been printed and given to all the members to distribute. Which now at last are being sold and being sold very quick. There are only about 10 seats left now. Which I think is very good as we had a very good response to our movie night event. In other news the Hoyts theater people trust us so much, that they don’t want a deposit or any money until our movie night is over. That’s great… in fact, its fantastic. Also the question have been made and finalized. If you pay a bit extra we might just give you a few hints as to what the questions are. The prizes have been arranged. Krina has found us a kool prize for the older people that are attending ( by that i do mean 18+.) For the kids prizes Shayneil has found a sponsor for CD’s (ZM) and Javin has found sponsors for some lollies for the under 18’s attending. Also our treasurer Nikesh is soon going to be in the process of the budget for the Halloween Party and is currently in the process of getting our accounts audited…finally. If you liked Vinesh’s work on the G.I Joe tickets, you will love his Halloween night tickets and flyer which he is in the process of making. That’s a summary of what happened this week. remember that there are only a few tickets left and its only days before the event is 100% sold out.

Greetings from West Auckland, where I have just got back to after a 2 hour long meeting at Javin’s house. In all honestly while the spring rolls and samosas at his house weren’t as fancy as Vinesh’s pineapple pie or Roma’s chocolate cake and muffins, but they were just as tasty!…hmm I like these meetings just for the amount good snacks^_^. Today’s meeting was about organising the last few things for the movie night and a few bits of the Halloween night. We’ve got the tickets printing and ready to be handed out this week to all those; whose attendance is already confirmed (To make the tickets a bit more interesting V.P. Vinesh has put a spot the spelling mistake game on them..hehehe). We arranged some really narley prizes to be given out at the movie night with a small set of question, which if you ask me are too easy.  For the Halloween night we’re thinking of having a couple of kegs of beer instead of having cans/bottles because kegs are generally more fun LOL. We are also trying to get some UV lights so people can look freakier on the night and there is even a possibility of having a live DJ depending on costs. People in the committee have also recently been questioning the effectiveness of the blog, which I think is a bit unfair with only 4 entries done so far, so if you read these or like these entries please comment to send us an email at committee@kshatriya.co.nz.

Cheers big ears,

This week is all about finalising and confirming number of attendees and their pre-ordered food and beverages for the upcoming NZ Kshatriya Youth Society Movie Night on the 22nd August for G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, the night is now almost all sold out with only a few seats left, we have even seriously been considering getting a larger cinema. It’s great to see the amount of people looking at the event page on Facebook and sending their confirmation in, it is also great to see the many different kinds of technology used in sending confirmation responses, they have come through Twitter, Facebook, SMS / text message, phone call and MSN messenger. The Friday just pasted was a cocktail held by the Kshatriya Society / Mota Mandal in recognition of the Auckland Khatri Soccer Team and NZ Taekwondo Association Team which participated in tournaments in Sydney, Australia. Many of the members of the youth society attended and helped out at this successful event. This is also where our new committee was introduced to the Khatri society for the first time in person whereby I also gave a short [and of course sharp] introductory speech; introducing the new committee and promoting our upcoming events being the Movie night and The Halloween night.

Thanks,

By the end of this week, the Yuwak Mandal has sold a lot, in fact almost half of the seats for the GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra movie night. Due to the school holidays, many of us school kids had plenty of time. To make some productive use of it, we began Monday by attempting to recruit interested people but just ended up having random conversations. And since it was the first day, many of our efforts got vague and indecisive replies- “Maybe, I will have to get back to you on that…” This meant that there weren’t too many fully confirmed people on that day. Despite our slow pace of success, the day did end with some accomplished plans. President Shayneil Narsey who was looking for a good, available hall went to check out the proposed hall with Shrenika and Vinesh and I believe this has now been ‘pencil booked’ for the Halloween night party. The Tuesday worked out to be a better day for sales and Bhavish was one of the first ones to confirm attendees. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday confirmed more ‘yes’s’. Committee members like Rishi, Shanesh and Bhavish also contributed to add to our efforts this Week. It’s pretty good that most people are taking part in what we are doing. I personally think this is a great idea for targeting the youth of our community to get together, meet, have fun and just enjoy themselves. While others asked around to see who wanted to go to movie night, Vinesh added some finishing touches to the designs for the movie night flyer and tickets and also sorting out the printing. So in the next meeting, which should be in a couple of weeks, we can give out the tickets which will be distributed to all the attendees.

Today the Yuwak Mandel had its second meeting in two weeks. Today’s meeting was very productive and we got through a lot of important matters mainly concerning the upcoming Movie night. The time and venue have all been decided for this upcoming event.  This is the first Khatri only movie night I will be attending.  The turnout should be good and the event should do well. Also a brand new logo was designed by members of the committee and as of now will be used in all publications done by the NZKYSI. Our next planned event beyond the Movie Night is a Halloween Night which will be held on 31st October, [which is…] Halloween. In the mean time President Shayneil Narsey has been looking at possible venues for this event and most likely it will be held at the Lynnfield Rec Center. We will further discuss the planned movie night at our next meeting which will be held in 3 weeks time on 2nd August. Big ups to Roma and co for catering real good muffins and cake, the committee appreciates everyone who lets us have the meetings at their place and for the high standard hospitality. The committee is learning and at this week’s meeting did not so much rely on the veterans, Javin and Shrenika,  and took the lead ourselves which is pleasing  to see.
